Glen Funkhouser, 86, of Onawa, formely of Whiting, died Monday, October 4, 1999 at the Burgess Health Center in Onawa.

Mr Funkhouser was born on November 13, 1912 at Whiting, the son of Charles and Frances "Fannie" (O'Connor) Funkhouser. He attended Harrison Country School at Whiting and had farmed in the Whiting area until his retirement.

He married Maxine Evelyn Dahl on September 14, 1935 at Sioux City, Ia. She died on January 28, 1976 at Whiting.

Glen enjoyed fishing, hunting, trapping and also enjoyed his woodworking shop and his walnut creations.

Survivors include; one son, Richard and his wife, Eva of Otis, CO; two daughters, Judy and her husband, George Lewis of Richardson, TX and Peggy and her husband, Monte Kron of Onawa. His special friend, Doris Cockerton of Onawa; two sisters, Ada Baker of Whiting, and Hope and her husband, Ken Rimmer of Spirit Lake, Ia; two sister-in-laws, Doris Funkhouser of Whiting and Roberta Funkhouser of Lucerne, CA; eight grandchildren, Sandy Deeds, Clifford Funkhouser, Steve Funkhouser, Debbie Carrier, Laurie Jorgensen, Kristie Parr, Chris Mieras and Jill Martin; nine great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Maxine; one son Clifford; one grandson, Matt Mieras; one step-grandson, Eugene Mieras; six brothers, Melvin, Lawrence, Floyd, Neal, Bill, Charles and one sister, Dorothy Nickolisen.

Services were held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, October 7, 1999 at the Pearson Funeral Chapel at Onawa, Ia, with Pastor Donald R Ludwick, officiating. The organist, Mrs Jack Jordon, accompanied the soloist, Mr Kenneth South in the selections "In The Garden" and "The Old Rugged Cross".

Casket bearers were Garry Ellison, Kenneth South, Gary Funkhouser, Mike Kober, Dick Stevenson and Bob Stevenson.

Interment was in Harrison Cemetery at Whiting, Ia with arrangements by the Pearson Funeral Home, Onawa, Iowa.
