Diana Kay Thomas, 62, Soldier, Iowa, died Thursday, July 21, 2005 at Creighton University Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska.

Funeral services were 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 26, 2005 at Soldier Lutheran Church at Soldier with Pastor Meggan Manlove, officiating. Burial was in Soldier Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation was 4:00-8:00 p.m. Monday with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. at Rush Family Care Service, Onawa, Iowa.

Diana was born September 11, 1942 at Ute, Iowa, the daughter of Donald and Marjorie (Sorensen) Lund. She was raised in the area and graduated from Moorhead High School. She married Francis Thomas September, 1960. The couple lived in the Little Sioux and Missouri Valley areas. Diana and her family returned to Soldier in 1971.

She worked various jobs, cleaning houses and cafes, restaurant work, Ben Franklin Store and was presently Post Master Relief with the Postal Department.

She was a member of Soldier Lutheran Church where she was presently serving as secretary of WELCA. She loved being near her family and caring for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, growing flowers and spending time at the casinos.

Survivors include her children, John Thomas and his fiance Stacey Flowers, Michele Thomas and Bryan Thomas and his significant other Tina Hinrichsen; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; her mother, Marjorie Lund; two sisters, LaDonna Dumond and Joleen and her husband, John Larson, all of Soldier; four nieces and nephews and a great-nephew.

She was preceded in death by her father, Donald; two infant brothers, Jerry and Claire; her special friend, Percy Creese; a brother-in-law, Randy Dumond and a niece, Stephanie Larson.
