Richard Seufert
June 24, 1941-August 1, 2005

Richard Seufert, 64, a longtime resident and teacher in Atlantic, died at the Heritage House on Monday night, August 1, 2005.

Richard was born the son of Joseph and Loretta (Shannahan) Seufert in Ute, Iowa, on June 24, 1941. He grew up and attended school in Ute and graduated from Wayne State University in Nebraska. Richard was married to Donna Nunamaker at the S.S. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Atlantic in 1974. The couple loved raising their family of four sons, and he taught Spanish at the Atlantic High School for 31 years.

Richard's hobbies were gardening, reading and music, and he especially loved dancing and travel. Richard will be remembered by his family for the love he gave them always, his kind and gentle nature and his wonderful sense of humor.

He is survived by his wife, Donna of Atlantic; his four sons, Jeremy and his wife, Melissa of Atlantic, Kevin and his wife, Anne of Atlantic, Mike and his wife, Amy of Maryville, Missouri and Jeff, a student at Iowa State, transferring to Iowa University in the fall; grandchildren, Riley Paige Seufert and Jaret John Richard Seufert; his mother, Loretta Seufert of Mapleton, Iowa; a brother, Don Seufert and his wife, JoAnne of Ute; his sister, Mary Ellen Burke and her husband, Martin of Sioux City; his sister-in-law, Marie Seufert of Denison and a number of nieces and nephews.

Richard was preceded in death by his father and his brother, Bill Seufert of Denison.
