Cecilia M. "Girlie" Flammang, 89, died Thursday, September 22, 2005, at Plymouth Manor Nursing Home in LeMars, Iowa.

Funeral services were 11:30 a.m. Monday, September 26 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Sioux City with Rev. Michael Erpelding, celebrant. Burial was in Memorial Park Cemetery. A vigil service was held at 7:00 p.m. Sunday at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel in Sioux City.

Mrs. Flammang was born August 7, 1916 in Mapleton, Iowa, the daughter of Joseph and Pearl Uhl. She married Matthew P. Flammang November 19, 1935 in Mapleton, Iowa. The couple farmed in the Mapleton, LeMars, Salix and Lawton areas until 1976 when they retired and moved to Sioux City.

She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. She also liked to cook for her family and embroidered dishtowels. She also worked at the Fling Nursing Home in Sioux City. She enjoyed spending time with all her grandchildren.

Survivors include two sons, Edwin (JoAnn) Flammang of Bronson, Iowa and Roger (Linda) Flammang of Kingsley, Iowa; three daughters, Mrs. Myron (Sandra) Bokemper and Mrs. Leonard (Janet) Schoenherr, both of Sioux City, and Mrs. Keith (Sharon) Langmeyer of LeMars, Iowa; three brothers, Delbert, Donnie and Ronnie, and four sisters, Viola, Rita, Wilma Jean and Lorraine; eighteen grandchildren and three step- grandchildren; twenty-two great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren and one step great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Matthew, a sister, Bernice and a grandson, Mark.

Pallbearers were her grandchildren, Danny, Myron Jr., Leonard Jr., Billy Jo, Gary and Jason.

Honorary pallbearers were the rest of her grandchildren.
