Martha Katherine (Jungen) Gotto-Grindle was born October 23, 1921, at Mapleton, Iowa, the daughter of John and Katherine (Heidesch) Jungen. She entered rest October 22, 2005 at Eventide Lutheran Home in Denison, Iowa at the age of 83 years, 11 months, and 29 days.

Services were held 10:30 a.m. Thursday, October 27 at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Denison with Rev. Edward Murray officiating. Burial was in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Mapleton. Jean Cornelius was the organist for the service and singing was St. Rose Choir. A vigil wake service was held at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday at St. Rose of Lima Church.

Martha married Leo Gotto October 4, 1958, at Mapleton, Iowa. He died July 29, 1977. She lived in Battle Creek and Mapleton, Iowa until moving to Denison, Iowa in 1981. She was a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Denison. Martha enjoyed traveling, playing cards, camping, and spending time with the family.

Survivors include her son, Dan Gotto and his wife, Elaine of Denison; three grandchildren, Justin of Denison, Jason of Ames, Iowa and Joshua at home in Denison; one great granddaughter, Madison Gotto; one sister, Mary Scheer and her husband, Delmond, of Mapleton, Iowa; two sisters-in-law, Maxine Jungen of Denison and Edith Packard of Haywarden, Iowa; along with a number of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Leo Gotto and five brothers, Albert, William, John, Jr., and twin brothers, Leo and Leonard.

Pallbearers were Justin Gotto, Jason Gotto, Joshua Gotto, Don Healy, Ryan Healy, Bernie Petersen and Donald Maack.

Arrangements were made under the direction of the Armstrong Funeral Home of Mapleton.
