Ruby Waderich, age 88 of Mapleton, Iowa died Monday, December 12, 2005 in Mapleton.

Services were held 10:30 a.m. Thursday, December 15 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Ute with Pastor Ed Brandt officiating. Burial was in St. Clair Cemetery, Ute. Creta Teut was the organist for the service and the congregation sang, "Lift High The Cross", "My Hope Is Built on Nothing Less" and "Amazing Grace". A scripture service was held at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 14 at the Armstrong Funeral Home in Mapleton.

Ruby Estella Pauline Teut Waderich, the daughter of Herman and Anna (Wiedemann) Teut was born December 22, 1916, in rural Charter Oak, Iowa. She died at Maple Heights Nursing Home in Mapleton, Iowa December 12, 2005 following a lengthy illness.

Ruby received her education in the rural school near her home and at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Soldier Township, Crawford County, Charter Oak, Iowa.

On December 1, 1936, Ruby was united in marriage to A. August Waderich in Sioux City, Iowa. They farmed in the Ute, Soldier and Mapleton communities. They had farmed east of Mapleton since 1966.

She became a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church at Ute, January 1, 1941, where she was a member of the LCW. She also was an avid card player. Ruby enjoyed playing cards with family and many friends.

Some of the greatest pleasures were her garden, canning and baking - always ready with a cup of coffee for any visitors at anytime.

Survivors include her son, Dale Waderich and his wife, Bonnie, of Rochester, New York; a daughter-in-law, Colleen Waderich of Seattle, Washington; seven grandchildren and their families; a step-granddaughter and her family; a brother, Everett Teut and his wife, Betty, of Omaha, Nebraska; sisters-in-law, Ruth Teut of Ute, Iowa, Christine Teut of Schleswig, Iowa, Irene Teut of Denison, Iowa and Arlene Teut of Mapleton, Iowa; a brother-in law, Gilbert Nihsen of Ricketts, Iowa; and many nieces and nephews.

Ruby was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, A. August Waderich, her sons, Valgene and Delaine, her daughter, Verdean Neddermeyer and her husband, Chris, one grandchild and four great-grandchildren, nine brothers, three sisters, and two sisters-in-law.

Pallbearers were Jeff Waderich, Brian Plautz, Eldon Teut, Gary Teut, Gilbert Nihsen, Dick Schleis and Larry Jessen.

Arrangements were made under the direction of the Armstrong Funeral Home of Mapleton-Ute.
