Marie C. Langenfeld, age 89 of Ute, Iowa, died Wednesday, April 14, 2004 at Maple Heights Nursing Home in Mapleton.
Services were held 10:00 a.m. Saturday, April 17 at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Charter Oak with Rev. Richard Ball officiating. Burial was in St. Clair Cemetery, Ute. A Vigil Wake Service was held at 7:00 p.m. Friday at the church.

Marie Catherine Langenfeld, the daughter of Michael and Katherine (Schneider) Musich was born April 28, 1914, at Persia, Iowa. Marie was baptized in a church at Persia and attended St. Boniface School at Westphalia, Iowa. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Ute, St. Mary's Rosary Society, the Area Betterment Club and the Ute Town and Country Club.

On January 24, 1939, she was united in marriage to Raymond Langenfeld at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Westphalia, Iowa. Five children were born to this union. Marie and Ray celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary this last January.

After their marriage, Mr. and Mrs. Langenfeld farmed around the Westphalia and Earling area until January 1963, when they purchased a bar restaurant, R. & M. Tavern, and moved to Ute, Iowa. In 1981 they retired and continued to live in Ute. After retirement they were custodians for the Ute Community Building until 1999.

In addition to her parents, Marie was preceded in death by a daughter, Joyce, two sisters, Priscilla and Hilda, and four brothers, Raymond, Urban, Michael, Jr., and Earl.

Surviving her are her husband, Raymond, of Mapleton; one son, Ronald and his wife, Connie, of Ute, Iowa; three daughters, Judy and her husband, Joe Patrick, of Glenwood, Iowa, Diann and her husband, John Iversen, of Moorhead, Iowa, and Donna and her husband, Bill Warning, of Minneapolis, Minnesota; 12 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; one brother, LaVerne and his wife, Helen Musich, of Westphalia, Iowa; three sisters, Helen and her husband, Lawrence Petsche, of Harlan, Iowa, Irene Coenen of Dunlap, Iowa, and Alice Ann Siebert of Lavington, New Mexico; along with several nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.

Honorary pallbearers were Susan Schechinger, Joel and Chelsea Petersen, Roger and Ichiko Schechinger, Rose Steinkuehler, Bonnie Cairney, Lynn Warning, Steve and Sherrie Hollander, Karla Kamm and Tawny Langenfeld.

Pallbearers were Michael Schechinger, Bob Schechinger, Tony Cairney, Brian Steinkuehler, Doug Kamm and Heath Langenfeld.

Arrangements were made under the direction of the Armstrong Funeral Home of Ute.
