Eunice L. Kunze, age 83 of Ute, Iowa died Thursday, October 7, 2004 in Ute.

Services were held 10:30 a.m. Monday, October 11 at Armstrong Chapel in Mapleton with Rev. Ed Brandt officiating. Burial was in St. Clair Cemetery, Mapleton. Connie Bridgeman was the organist for the service and the congregation sang, "What A Friend We Have In Jesus" and "My Hope Is Built on Nothing Less".

Eunice Leota Kunze was born September 27, 1921, at Moorhead, Iowa, the daughter of Leonard and Ruth (Nicholson) Lyons. She was raised in the Mapleton and Ute area. On August 18, 1940, she was united in marriage to Vernon Kunze at Ute. The couple farmed in the Ute and Mapleton area. Eunice loved being the wife of a farmer and the life that it gave her and her family. Vernon died March 23, 1979. Eunice moved into Ute in 1982, where she resided until her death Thursday, October 7, 2004.

She was a member of the Monona County Saddle Club. She was active in 4-H and always attended and participated in the Monona County Fair. She enjoyed watching rodeos and tending to her house plants. She also was a fan of the Chicago Cubs, watching their games every chance she could.

Survivors include three sons and their wives, Garlin and Betty Kunze of Mapleton, Iowa, Edward and Susan Kunze of Kingman, Arizona, and Myron and Pam Kunze also of Mapleton, Iowa; two daughters and their husbands, Susan and Paul Sather of Kennewick, Washington and Letha and Dwight Goslar of Ute, Iowa; nine grandchildren, April, Kellie, Chris, Nathan, Katie, Brady, Shelby, Wade, and Cassie, two step-grandchildren, Megan and Molly; and five great grandchildren along with other relatives, neighbors and good friends.

Along with her husband, Eunice was preceded in death by her parents and one sister.

Pallbearers were Wade Kunze, Brady Goslar, Mike Riffey, Jeff Gee, Les Nordaker and Dale Seieroe.

Arrangements were made under the direction of Armstrong Funeral Service of Ute and Mapleton.
