UTE, Iowa -- Evelyn Flynn, 91, of Ute died Friday, Nov. 5, 2004, at Maple Heights Nursing Home in Mapleton, Iowa.

Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Charter Oak, Iowa, with the Rev. Richard Ball officiating. Burial will be in St. Clair Cemetery, Ute. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. Friday, with a vigil service at 7 p.m., at Armstrong Funeral Home in Ute.

Evelyn Vivian Flynn was born Dec. 31, 1912, in Soldier, Iowa, the daughter of Olaf and Hanora (Clemon) Amunson. She grew up and attended grade and high school in the Soldier area.

On Dec. 31, 1935, she was united in marriage to Paul Michael Flynn in Ute. The couple lived on farms in the Ute area and moved into Ute in early 1947. In 1948, they purchased the Ute Locker, which they operated until they sold it to Francis Thompson in 1951. In 1952, Paul was appointed postmaster in Ute and she went to work outside the home as a postal clerk. They both retired in 1977. Paul died Jan. 9, 1990.

She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Ute and St. Mary's Rosary Society. She especially enjoyed hard work and did quilting, having made quilts for all her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Those survivors left to cherish their memories of Evelyn include three sons and their wives, Mike and Teresa Flynn of Ames, Iowa, Clifford and Bonnie Flynn of Norfolk, Neb., and Richard and Deanna Flynn of Omaha; three daughters and their husbands, Pat and Rick Moeller of Beaumont, Calif., Barbara and Bob Caldwell of California City, Calif., Paulette and Joe Lombardo of Anchorage, Alaska; 15 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; two brothers and their wives, Lowell and Esther Amunson of Soldier, Iowa, and Clifford and Le Ora Amunson of Moville, Iowa; two sisters-in-law, Clara Amunson of Ute and Hazel Amunson of Soldier; as well as several other relatives, neighbors and friends.

Along with her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, Olaf and Hanora Amunson; four brothers, Merrill, Kermit, Leo and Milton Amunson; and three sisters, Verona Hanson, Elaine Amunson and Loreen York.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Chris, Dan Andy, Dave and Tom Flynn and Robert Caldwell and a great-grandson, Jacob Kelly.
