Anna Marsh, 86, of rural Mapleton, died on Monday, December 1, 1980 at a hospital in Sioux City following a short illness.

Services were held on Wednesday, December 3, at 10:30 a.m. in St John's United Methodist Church in Mapleton, with the Rev Louis Aitken officiating. Burial was in the Grant Cemetery near Rodney, Iowa. Arrangements were under the direction of the Walter Funeral Home at Mapleton.

Anna, the daughter of Neils and Mary (Jensen) Johnson was born on July 10, 1894 in Shelby County near Harlan, Iowa. She came with her parents to a farm west of Mapleton. She was united in marriage to Ted L Marsh on February 28, 1912 at Onawa, Iowa. Following their marriage the couple farmed in the Ute and Mapleton area. Later they moved to Granville, Minnesota for a few years, returning to Mapleton in 1932. Ted died on April 2, 1962.

Survivors include four daughters, Miss Rosella Marsh of Mapleton, Mrs Vernon (Darlene) Schiltz, of Remsen, Mrs Lawrence (Eleanor) Martin of Mena, Arkansas and Mrs Roger (Lorraine) Weinbrant of Kiron; four sons, Earl of Mapleton, Norman of Maddison, Missouri, Everett of Sioux City and Dale of Wall Lake, Iowa; 18 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren; one sister, Mrs Luella Sonksen of Prairie City, Illinois.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one infant son, four brothers and one sister.

Pallbearers were Al Bruning, Ronald Engelke, Robert Christiansen, Leo Dose Lawrence Gosch and Delmond Scheer.
