Doris Beatrice Ernst, 86, Colorado Springs, Colorado, formely of Sloan, Iowa, died Thursday, October 1, 1987, at her home in Colorado Springs.

She was born July 15, 1901, at Sloan to Joseph and Oveda (Hansen) Miquelon. She attended country school east of Sloan and graduated from the Sloan High School. She received a teacher's certificate at Morningside College and Cedar Falls Teachers College. She taught country school northwest of SLoan.

On June 1, 1924, she married George Ernst in Onawa. Mr Ernst died in February 1965 at Sloan. She farmed for 35 years near Sloan until retiring in 1959.

She was a member of Albaton Wesleyan Church and was a past president of the Women's Missionary Society. She was the church pianist for many years. She worked for the YMWB, the Children's Mission of the Church.

Survivors include one daughter, Mrs Warren (Evonne)Johnson of Colorado Springs; three sons, Dale of Minnetonka, Minn; the Rev. Richard of Cedar Rapids and Ronald of Sloan; 13 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, George; one infant daughter, Anna Louise; two brothers, Cyr Miquelon and Lee Miquelon; and one sister, Mrs. Mae Ogden.

Services were held at 10 a.m. on Monday, October 5, 1987, at the Albaton Wesleyan Church at Albaton with Rev Earl Miller officiating. The pianist, Mrs Earl Miller, accompnaied the congregation in singing "Each Step I Take" and "Wonderful Savior Is Jesus My Lord". Richard and Sara Ernst sang "Down From His Glory" accompanied by pianist Sarra Ernst. Ronald Ernst, Richard Ernst and Dale Ernst sang "How Great Thou Art" accompanied by Sara Ernst.
Bearers were Lyle Ernst, Lowell Ernst, Jim Ernst, Leonard Brown, Clarence Brown and David Rowland.

Interment was in Fairview Cemetery at Albaton with arrangments by the Wood Funeral Home, Sloan, Iowa.
