BLENCOE, Iowa -- Donald William "Tim" Comfort, 82, of Blencoe died Friday, Sept. 12, 2003, in Dubois, Wyo.

Memorial services will be 2 p.m. today at United Church of Christ in Blencoe, with the Rev. John Noer officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery. There will be no visitation. Arrangements are under the direction of Rush Family Care Service in Onawa, Iowa.

Tim was born May 20, 1921, in Blencoe, the son of Richard U. and Etta E. (Boyd) Comfort. He married Edna Haugen on Dec. 10, 1944, in Blencoe. He was a farmer and served as treasurer of Monona County, Iowa, before retiring Jan. 1, 1987.
He was a member of Blencoe United Church of Christ.

Survivors include his wife, Edna of Blencoe; two sons and their wives, Thomas and Keri Comfort of Indianola, Iowa, and James and Linda Comfort of Omaha; a daughter and her husband, Janet and John Lee of Dubois, Wyo.; a son-in-law and his wife, Dennis and Virginia Michel of Story City, Iowa; 10 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two brothers and their wives, John and Joyce Comfort of Blencoe, and Merle and Theo Comfort of Omaha; a sister and her husband, Phyllis and Farrell Barney of Aurelia, Iowa; and a sister-in-law, Doris Comfort of Gales Ferry, Conn.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Catherine H. Michel; and a brother, Ken.

A memorial fund has been established in his name.
