ONAWA, Iowa -- Betty Watson, 77, of Onawa, formerly of Oto, Iowa, passed away Saturday, Nov. 15, 2003, at a Sioux City hospital.

Services will be 10 a.m. Monday at Rush Family Chapel in Onawa, with the Rev. Dennis Olsen officiating. Burial will be in Oto Township Cemetery in Oto. There will be no visitation.

Betty was born May 2, 1926 in Sioux City, the daughter of Conrad and Elsie (Nelson) Benson. She was raised and educated in the Oto area.
She married Louis "Bob" Watson on Dec. 1, 1942 at Dakota City, Neb. The couple made their home in Oto and in recent years had moved to Onawa. Bob passed away Feb. 19, 2002 in Onawa. The couple enjoyed nearly 60 years of marriage.

Betty worked in the Oto School cafeteria, and she and her sister also owned and operated a cafe in Oto. She was a member of the Oto American Legion Auxiliary for over 62 years.

Survivors include a son and his wife, Conrad Allen and Lynda Watson of Jacksonville, Fla.; two grandchildren, Derek Watson of Houston, Texas and Annessa Shea of Jacksonville; a sister, Arlene Banta of San Antonio, Texas; and two nieces, Pat Banta and Chris Cook.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Doris Cole; and a nephew, Butch Banta.
