Ute, Iowa- Ella A. Soukup, 91, of Ute died Wednesday, Feb. 12, 2003 at Maple Heights Nursing Home in Mapleton, Iowa.

Services will be 10 a.m. Monday at St Pauls's Lutheran Church in Ute, with the Rev. Ed Brandt officiating. Burial will be in St. Clair Cemetery. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. Sunday, with a prayer service at 6:30 p.m. at Armstrong Funeral Home in Ute.

Ella Amanda Soukup was born March 2, 1911, in Ute, the daughter of John and Minnie (Freerking) Petersen. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Ute, where she was a life long member. It was also in Ute that she attended school.

On Jan. 17, 1933, she was united in marriage to Fred Soukup in Ute. The couple lived on a farm west of Ute until 1973, when they moved into town.

She entered Maple Heights Nursing Home in Mapleton, in 1996.

Along with her church membership, she was also a member of the Friendship Club and various card clubs.

Those survivors left to cherish her memory is Fred, her husband of 70 years: a son and his wife, Gene and Karen Soukup of Ute: two grandsons, Dennis Soukup of Clovis, Calif., and Steven Soukup and his wife, Lori of Las Vegas, Nev.: a granddaughter and her husband, Patti and Burdette Vogt of Charter Oak, Iowa: four great- grandchildren, Ashley and Tyler Soukup and Brandon and Ryan Vogt: and many other relatives, neighbors and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister and three brothers
