Nellie Josephine Leff was born May 1, 1884 on a farm near Turin, Iowa, the daughter of Erica and Olaf Leff. She passed away May 4, 1972 at the Burgess Memorial Hospital in Onawa after several months illness, and only three days after her 88th birthday anniversary.

Although she traveled widely in this country and in Sweden, the Turin community was her home during her entire life. On August 27, 1909 she was married to Howard Reese, also of Turin, in Sioux City. They lived in the same farm home from that date until her death. She was a life member of the W.S.C.S. of the Turin United Methodist Church.

Jo was prededed in death by her parents, three brothers and two sisters. She is survived by her husband, Howard; one son, Don; four grandchildren, David Zahrt, Christy Zahrt Tews, Jo and Karen Reese; three great grandchildren; numerous nephews and nieces and many friends.

Services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 6, 1972 at the Pearson Funeral Chapel in Onawa with the Rev. Everett Major officiating. Clara Kelley was the organist, playing selections by Bach. Bearers were Watson Davis, Bob Maule, Walter Mikkelson, Howard Hathaway; Raymond Kline and James Johnston. Interment was in Belvidere Cemetery at Turin with arrangements by the Pearson Funeral Home of Onawa.
