Neal W. Grandgenett was born August 13, 1885 in Magnolia Township, Harrison County, Iowa, and passed from this life in the Burgess Memorial Hospital December 13, 1971. Death came following a long illness, he had reached the age of 86 years and 4 months.

Mr. Grandganett chose farming as his vocation and spent most of his lifetime in this work, retiring from the farm a few years ago. Early in life he accepted the Christ as his Savior and was United with the Catholic Church in Magnolia, Iowa.

On April 25, 1917 he was united in marriage with Ida Butts at Logan, Iowa.

Survivors include his wife, Ida at Onawa; two daughters, Mrs. Frances Thompson of Onawa and Ruth (Mrs. Robert Young) of Merritt Island, Florida; three sons; Ben, Otis and Harlan all of Onawa; 14 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren; and one sister Mrs. Henry Humier of Carroll, Nebraska.

His parents, one brother, one sister, two half sisters and two half brothers preceded him in death.

Funeral services were held at 1:30 P.M. Wednesday, December 15, 1971 at the First Christian Church, Onawa, Iowa with the Rev. E.E. Epperson, officiating. Organist was Mrs. Carl Linden. Selections were "Going Down the Valley' and "The Old Rugged Cross". Casket bearers were Terry Thompson, Bill Thompson, Robert Grandgenett, Dennis Lawrence, John Lintin and Lonnie Campbell. Interment was in Onawa Cemetery. Arrangements were by the Pearson Funeral Home, Onawa, Iowa
