ONAWA, Iowa -- William "Bill" Reynolds, 79, of Onawa died Tuesday, June 12, 2007, at Burgess Health Center in Onawa.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at First Christian Church in Onawa, with the Rev. Don Collison officiating. Burial will be in Onawa Cemetery. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. today, with a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Rush Family Care Service in Onawa.

Bill was born Dec. 14, 1927, at home in Ashton Township, rural Onawa, the son of Edward and Helen (Neal) Reynolds. He attended country school and graduated from Onawa High School in 1946.
He married Phyllis Leonard on Oct. 8, 1950, at First Christian Church in Onawa. He was a lifelong farmer.

He served First Christian Church diligently and with loyalty and love throughout his entire life. He was chairman of the board of directors when the current church was built. He became a deacon and then an elder. He served the church for more than 50 years. He also served on the Nebowa Christian Camp board for many years.

He enjoyed gardening, beekeeping and his 1932 Model A Ford. He served on many boards including Monona County REC board, Farmers Elevator board and as a trustee of Ashton Township. He was a member of Onawa Vesper Lodge 223 A.F. & A.M. He was an avid outdoorsman and had an extensive knife collection. The couple enjoyed traveling.

Survivors include his wife, Phyllis of Onawa; two daughters and their husbands, Jane and Greg Heisterkamp of Sloan, Iowa, and Ann and Vince Phillips of Onawa; a son and his wife, Ned and Melinda of Whiting, Iowa; grandchildren, Trisha Yockey, Emily and Max Heisterkamp, Sarah Kerchoff, Ned Jr., Neal and Adam Reynolds. Michael, Bryan and Julie Phillips; several great-grandchildren; four sisters, Vivian (Don) Randall of Columbus, Ohio, Beulah (Leonard) Miller, Nancy Schallau and Mary (Joe) Kramer, all of Onawa; a half sister, Jeanette (Raymond) Yates of Ogden, Utah; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Steve and Dick; a sister-in-law, Naomi; and a brother-in-law, John Schallau.
