MOORHEAD, Iowa -- Matthew Thomas Marr, 16, of Moorhead, formerly of Whiting, Iowa, died Thursday, Aug. 1, 2002, at a Sioux City hospital of injuries suffered in an accident.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Whiting Christian Church, with the Revs. Rusty Hedger and Jeremy Hopkins officiating. Burial will be in Whiting Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m., at Rush Family Care Service in Onawa, Iowa.

Matthew was born Nov. 15, 1985, in Onawa, the son of Tom and Cindy (Tiemann) Marr. He was raised in Whiting and had attended school at Whiting High School until moving to Moorhead. He then attended Boyer Valley School in Dunlap, Iowa. He was enrolled at Whiting High School and would have been a junior this fall.

He loved sports and especially football. He was a member of Whiting Christian Church and the youth group.

Survivors include his mother, Cindy Marr and Fred Parks of Moorhead; his father and stepmother, Tom and Patti of Whiting; two brothers, Brad and his friend, Sam of South Sioux City, and Brian and his wife, Sonja of Little Sioux, Iowa; his twin sister, Jessica Marr of Moorhead; grandparents, Robert "Buck" and Ione Tiemann of Onawa, Bruce and Lorretta Marr of Walthill, Neb., and Bob and Joan Becker of Belleview, Fla.; two stepsisters, Nicole and her husband, Jon Jacobson of Mapleton, Iowa, and Andrea Vaughn of Onawa; nieces and nephews, Madison, Austin, Alexis and Jayden; and a special friend, Amanda Andersen of Jacksonville, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by a stepsister, Danielle Withee; great-grandparents, Ben Mammenga, Ella Bosch, Grace McChristy, Bernie and Berniece Brannigan and Helen and Claude Marr; and an uncle, David Marr.
