ONAWA, Iowa -- Daniel W. Hyatt, 69, of Onawa went to be with his father in heaven, Sunday, July 14, 2002.

Memorial services will be 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Rush Family Care Chapel in Onawa, with the Rev. Carla Ingebretsen officiating. Burial will be in Onawa Cemetery, with military rites conducted by the U.S. Navy and Veterans of Foreign Wars Monana County Post 2694. There will be no visitation.

Daniel was born March 16, 1933, in Onawa, the son of Alvin K. "Boss" and Edna May (Thompson) Hyatt. He was raised in Onawa and Waubun, Minn., graduating from Waubun High School in 1950. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1951 and received an honorable discharge in 1953.

He married Donna Rae Goehring on June 27, 1954, at Evangelical Lutheran Church in Onawa. The couple lived in Onawa for 48 years, where he began his auto body career with Joy Motors. Later he started H&H Auto Body Shop with Gordon Hopkins and became the sole owner a short time later. He had been semi-retired for several years.

He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Monana County Post 2694.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Donna Rae; four daughters, Debra and her husband, Ralph Lopez of Tucson, Ariz., Danelle and her husband, Roy Lynn Riley of Onawa, Dee Hyatt of Poinciana, Fla., and Darla and her husband, Gordon Hinkel of Onawa; a son and his wife, Daniel and Marilyn of Parker, Colo.; his mother, Edna May of Whiting, Iowa; seven grandchildren, Krystie, Stefanie and Kristofer Lopez, Eli and Seth Riley and Brent and Candi Hinkel; a brother and his wife, Alvin J. "Punk" and Edie Hyatt of DeSoto, Mo.; a sister, Rita Warren and her friend, Butch Moore of Moorhead, Iowa; a brother-in-law and his wife, Von and Louise Goehring of Sioux City; two uncles, Burtis Hyatt of Waubun, Minn., and Earl Thompson of Arkansas; an aunt, Mary Hopkins of Onawa; Tom Templeton of Onawa; and several nephews, nieces, cousins and cherished friends.

He was preceded in death by his father; and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Ray and Molly Goehring.

Honorary pallbearers will be his grandchildren
