MOORHEAD, Iowa -- Marie Elizabeth Lauritsen, 79, of Moorhead died Thursday, Dec. 27, 2001, at Burgess Health Center in Onawa, Iowa.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Bethesda Lutheran Church in Moorhead, with the Rev. Carla Ingebretsen officiating. Burial will be in Ingeman Cemetery, Moorhead. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Rush Family Care Service in Onawa.

Marie was born Feb. 12, 1922, near Onawa, the daughter of Irving J. and Gladys E. (Shearer) Gleason. She graduated from Blencoe High School in 1940, and was married to Roy Lauritsen on March 7, 1942, in South Sioux City.

She was a member of Bethesda Lutheran Church for nearly 60 years, where she taught Sunday school and was a member of the Lutheran Women's Organization. She also was active at Loess Hills Cultural Center and volunteered at Loess Hills Gift Shop. She was a devoted homemaker, mother and grandmother. She was an accomplished seamstress and loved caring for her flowers.

Survivors include her husband, Roy of Moorhead; her mother, Gladys Kelley of Onawa; three daughters and their husbands, Carolyn Sue and James Sward of Galesburg, Ill., Mary Frances and Bill Mason of Pocahontas, Iowa, and Peggy Jo and Harvey Swenson of Onawa; two sons and their wives, the Rev. Dennis J. and Jane (Hinlicky) Lauritsen of Riverside, Ill., and Daryle M. and Deb Lauritsen of Moorhead; 12 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her father and a brother, Irving N. Gleason Jr
