UTE, Iowa -- Ellen Mary Hopkins, 91, of Ute died Friday, Dec. 7, 2001, at Maple Heights Nursing Home in Mapleton, Iowa.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at United Methodist Church in Ute, with the Rev. Ken Baughman officiating. Burial will be in St. Clair Cemetery in Ute. Visitation will be after 3 p.m. today, with a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Armstrong Funeral Home in Ute.

Mrs. Hopkins was born March 25, 1910, in Coleridge, Neb., the daughter of Silas Watson and Clara Nettie (Haines) Hayes. She married Clarence Hopkins on July 23, 1934, in Onawa, Iowa. The couple lived in the Mapleton and Ute areas where their life's work was in farming. Clarence also worked for Cal Davis. They moved to Ute in 1956. She worked at the Ute School where she was a cook for 14 years. Mr. Hopkins died Dec. 14, 1995.

She was a member of United Methodist Church of Ute.

Survivors include a daughter, Darlene Christiansen and her husband, Henry "Hank" Jr.; three grandchildren, Henry Christiansen III, Allen Christiansen and Lorne Christiansen; five great-grandchildren, Brittany, Ashley, Andrew, Ashton and Arick Christiansen; a brother and his wife, Harry and Della Hayes of Atlantic, Iowa; a sister and her husband, Clara and Jim Martz of Ute; and several other relatives and friends.

She also was preceded in death by her parents; a granddaughter, Amanda Christiansen; two brothers, Joe and Elmer Hayes; and four sisters, Lillie, Mamie, Elsie and Myrtle.

Pallbearers will be Butch, Don, Bob and Jack Bridgeman, Don Martz and Wayne Johnson
