MAPLETON, Iowa -- Donald E. Willson, 78, of Mapleton died Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2001, at Maple Heights Nursing Home in Mapleton.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. John's United Methodist Church in Mapleton. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. Sunday, with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m., at Armstrong Funeral Home in Mapleton.

Donald was born March 4, 1923, in Mapleton, the son of Leslie and Maurine (Cadwell) Willson. He attended and graduated from Mapleton High School in 1941. Donald then farmed from 1943 until 1979, when he retired and moved into Mapleton.

He married Bernice Bunning on Nov. 25, 1943, at St. James United Church parsonage. This union was blessed with one son, Robert.

Donald was a member of St. John's United Methodist Church, Mapleton Camping Club and the coffee club at the Beef-N-Brew.

Donald is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years, Bernice; a son and his wife, Robert and Cindy Willson of Rockford, Ill.; a brother and his wife, Lawrence and Mary Willson of Neveda, Iowa; two granddaughters, Jane and her husband, Jason Clevenger, and Jodi and her fiance, Jerry Severson, all of Rockford; and two great-grandsons, Logan and Lukas Clevenger, both of Rockford.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother and a sister.
