Freyda J. Schneekloth

Ute, Iowa--Freyda J. Schneekloth, 90, of Shenandoah, Iowa, formely of Ute and Mapleton, Iowa, died Thursday, April 17, 2003, at the Shenandoah Hospital.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Armstrong Funeral Home in Ute, with the Rev. Bob Fritzmeier officiating. Burial will be in St. Clair Cemetery. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Freyda Josephine Schneekloth was born April 12, 1913, near Ute, the daughter of Chris and Kathryn (Cassen) Hinrichsen. She grew up in the area and graduated from Mapleton High School with the class of 1932.

On May 4, 1934, she was united in marriage to Harold John Schneekloth in Mapleton. The couple farmed in the Ute and Mapleton area until 1949, when they moved to Shenandoah. Harold worked for Dr. Pepper and later Pepsi Cola. She worked at Earl May for more than 20 years before her retiement. Harold died March 6, 1993.

She enjoyed playing cards and pool and developed a "green thumb" with her love for house plants. She was very active with the senior citizens and a member of the "Ding-a-Lings."

Those survivors left to cherish her memory include two sons and their wives, Eugene and Janet Schneekloth of Papillion, Neb., and Philip and Debbie Schneekloth of Houston, Texas; three daughters, Carol Hankins and Alra Glasgo, both of Shenandoah, and Joan Davis of Schuyler, Neb., 13 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Lloyd Hinrichsen and his wife, Laretta, and Bob Hinrichsen, all of Ute; along with other relatives and family friends.

Along with her husband, she was also preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Patricia; a grandson, Rodney Beck; and two brothers, Benjamin and John Hinrichsen.
