MAPLETON, Iowa -- Dewaine "Ole" Olson, 64, of Henderson, Minn., formerly of the Mapleton area, passed away Thursday morning, April 8, 2003, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Services were held April 10 at United Methodist Church in Le Sueur, Minn., where the Rev. William Kerr officiated. Burial was in Brown Cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of Kolden Funeral Home in Le Sueur.

Mr. Olson was born April 29, 1938, in Dow City, Iowa, to Wallace and Ruby (Barnes) Olson. He attended school and helped farm the family farm near Mapleton. He then served in the U.S. Navy.

He moved to Minnesota in 1958 and married Nancy Green on April 4, 1959, in Le Sueur. He worked doing dozer, drag line and drainage work until 1975, when he operated this own company, Minnesota Valley Drainage out of Henderson, until 1985. He then continued to farm and raise beef cattle near Henderson. He established the Henderson Car Wash in 1979.

He was active in the County Mounted Sheriff's Posse and a charter member of the Fox Hollow Saddle Club. He also was a member of IUOE Union 49, the National Rifle Association and United Methodist Church in Le Sueur.

He is survived by his wife, Nancy; a daughter, Kyleen (David) Brandt of Henderson; two sons, Dann (Anita) Olson of Henderson and Kip (Diane) Olson of St. Peter, Minn.; five grandchildren, Tate and Brynn Brandt, Ethan Olson and Marissa and Emily Olson; two brothers, Roger (Connie) Olson of Cleveland, Minn., and Dennis Olson of Bagley, Iowa; and a sister, Charlene Johnson of Des Moines.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Dallas; a daughter, Shanna; a granddaughter, Kailey Olson; a sister and a sister-in-law.
