ONAWA, Iowa -- Ronald "Hoagie" Hogancamp, 71, of Onawa died Wednesday, April 2, 2003, at Creighton Medical Center in Omaha.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Rush Family Care Service in Onawa, with the Rev. Dennis Olsen officiating. Burial will be in Belvidere Cemetery, Turin, Iowa, with military rites conducted by the U.S. Army and Monona County Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2694. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home.

Ronald was born May 4, 1931, in Onawa, the son of Bernard and Helen (Strunk) Hogancamp. He was a lifelong resident of Onawa. He joined the U.S. Army in January 1952, and became a certified parachutist after training at the Infantry School at Fort Benning, Ga. He served with Company G, 5th Infantry Regiment during the Korean Conflict. His awards and decorations include the Korean Service Medal with two Bronze Service Stars. He was discharged in January 1954.

He married Judy Larimore on Nov. 5, 1952, in Pipestone, Minn. They couple made their home in Onawa, where he was a line foreman for the city of Onawa for 28 years until retiring.

He was a member of First Christian Church in Onawa, Monona County Veteran of Foreign Wars Post 2694 and a volunteer fireman for 14 years. He enjoyed NASCAR racing, fishing and hunting.

Survivors include his wife, Judy; a son and his wife, Bill and Jill of Onawa; four grandchildren, Amy, Lindsay, Bobby and Michael Hogancamp; two great-grandchildren, Jarren and Jordan Young; a brother, Herschel Hogancamp of Dunedin, Fla.; a sister and her husband, Bonita and Carl Barnthouse of Dunedin, Fla.; and sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Joleene and Paul Duff of Onawa, Joann and Clifford Davis of Manhattan Beach, Calif., and Joyce and Mike Botsford of West Lake Village, Calif.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Robert; and a brother, Danny
