Castana, Iowa -- Stella L. Jansen, 91, of Castana died Monday, Oct. 29, 2007, at Burgess Health Center in Onawa, Iowa.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Ute, Iowa, with the Rev. Edward Brandt officiating. Burial will be in St. Clair Cemetery, Ute. Visitation will begin today at 4 p.m. with a prayer service at 7 p.m. at the Armstrong Funeral Home, Ute.

Stella Louise Jansen was born Sept. 2, 1916, at Ute, the daughter of William and Lena (Bramstedt) Neumann. She grew up and was educated in the Ute area.

On Jan. 11, 1939, she was united in marriage to Wilbert William Jansen in the Lutheran Parsonage at Ute. After their marriage the couple lived in the Schleswig and Denison, Iowa areas for a brief time, moving back to Ute in 1953. In 1960, they moved to Soldier, Iowa, and in 1970, they made their home in Castana, Iowa. Wilbert died November 21, 1994. Stella was able to remain living in her home until just this past September when she entered Pleasant View Nursing Home at Whiting, Iowa.

She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Ute as well as the Sunshine Club at Castana and a past member of TOPS.

Those survivors left to fondly treasure their memories of Stella include her daughter, Dorothy Daniels and her husband, Dean of Ponca, Neb.; six grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren as well as one brother and his wife, Harold and Shari Neumann of Underwood, Iowa; and a sister, Helen Johnson of Lincoln City, Ore.

Along with her husband, Stella was preceded in death by her parents; an infant son; and two brothers, Walter, who died at the age of 14 and Herbert.
