ONAWA, Iowa -- Darlaine A. Jensen, 85, of Onawa died Saturday, Oct. 13, 2007, at Elmwood Care Centre in Onawa.

Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at First Congregational United Church of Christ in Onawa, with the Revs. John Noer and Mary Wells officiating. Burial will be in Onawa Cemetery. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. today, with a prayer service at 7 p.m. followed by an Order of the Eastern Star service, at Pearson Funeral Home in Onawa.

Darlaine was born Sept. 26, 1922, in Onawa, to Oliver G. and Agnes (Crossett) Jones. She graduated from Onawa High School in 1940 and from Elmhurst College in Elmhurst, Ill., in 1944. From 1944 to 1947, she worked for G.E. in Chicago. She lived in Elmhurst, Ill., from 1940 until 1947, when she returned to Onawa to marry Willie S. Jensen on June 24, 1947. He died June 9, 1971, in a car accident in rural Monona County, Iowa. She worked as a secretary for 30 years at Pearson Funeral Home in Onawa.

She was a member of First Congregational United Church of Christ, a 50-year member of Order of the Eastern Star Queen Esther Chapter 222, a 50-year member of the Onawa Women's Club, a 50-year member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, P.E.O., Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen Auxiliary and the Monona County Rural Mail Carriers Association.

Survivors include a son and his wife, Bruce and Linda Jensen of Mason City, Iowa; a daughter, Carol Jensen of Sioux City; two grandchildren, Matthew Jensen of Mason City and Sarah Jensen of Stamford, Conn.; and a special friend, Annette Yerger of Sioux City.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Willie; four brothers, Loren, Edward, Vernon and Arden; and two sisters, Florence Beedle and Leila Arndt.

Memorials may be directed to First Congregational United Church of Christ or Burgess Health Center in Onawa.
