Member of Legion Auxiliary dies Dec. 30

Dolores M. Anderson, age 74, of Mapleton, Iowa, died Saturday, December 30, 2000, at Mapleton.
Services were held 10;30 a.m. Wednesday, January 3 at the Armstrong Funeral Home in Mapleton with Pastor Shirley Textor officiating. Burial was in Heisler Cemetery, Mapleton. Connie Bridgeman was the organist for the service and music included “Amazing Grace” “Wind Beneath My Wings” and “Old Rugged Cross”. A prayer service was held at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Armstrong Chapel in Mapleton.

Dolores Maxine Anderson (Barney) was born November 3, 1926 at Mapleton, Iowa, the daughter of Earl and Mary (Riley) Pauley. On March 11, 1947 she was united in marriage to Miron Arthur Anderson at Onawa, Iowa. No children were born to this union, but she was a mother to all her nieces and nephews. The family lived in Mapleton, moved to Sioux City, and moved back to Mapleton in 1954. Dolores worked at the Poultry House in Mapleton, hoed beans in the summer for years, and worked at IBP in Dakota City, Nebraska. Miron died December 29, 1968.

She was a member of the Mapleton American Legion Auxiliary.

Those survivors left to cherish her memory include one brother, Earl Pauley Jr., of Mapleton; three sisters, Elaine and her husband, Harold “Fuzz” Hopkins of Albia, Iowa, Mary and her husband, Bud Allen of Soldier, Iowa, and Helen Ruth Hopkins of Mapleton, along with numerous nieces and nephews, neighbors and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters, Wilma Hopkins, Elsie (Pauley) Bridgeman and Betty Pauley, and two brothers, Franky John and Edward LeRoy.

Pallbearers were Audie Bridgeman, Paul Belt, Mark Zimmerman, Dale Hopkins, Billie Hopkins III and Joey Allen.
