Olena BAKKE MOLSTAU, daughter of Ole and Sarah GORLIEN BAKKE, was born in Beloit Rock, Wis. on September 29, 1870. At the age of 4 years she moved with her parents by ox drawn wagon to the Soldier area. On April 10, 1895 she was united in marriage to John Alfred MOLSTAU of Soldier and to this union were born four children, 3 sons, Oren, Clarence and Herman and one daughter, Sadie.
Mrs. MOLTSAU passed away at the Burgess Memorial Hospital on Saturday, Feburary 5th, 1972 at the age of 101 years, 4 months and 6 days.
She was a member of Faith Luthern Church and had made her home in Onawa since 1935, for the past several years at the Elwood Nursing Home.
Survivors are two sons Clarence and Herman both of Onawa, 7 grand-children, and 23 great grand-children.
Preceeding her in death were her husband who died May 30, 1947; one son and her daughter, also one brother, Christian and 2 sisters, Maria and Gunda.
Services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feburary 8, 1972 at Faith Luthern Church in Onawa with Pastor Gerald GUNDERSEN officiating. Mrs. Loren RIDDLE and Mrs. Dan HYATT sang, "Just As I Am" amd "How Great Thou Art" accompanied by Clara KELLEY.
Bearers were Thomas MOLTSAU, James KALSKETT, Oscar NAVRUDE, John WAX, Gary KALSKETT, and Raymond SLEVERS. Interment was in the Onawa Cemetery with arrangements by the PEARSON Funeral Home of Onawa.
