Mrs, Raymond (Florence) Polly 1894-1959

Mrs. Raymond Polly, 65,the former Florence Fletcher, daughter of Frank and Phania Fletcher, was born January 16, 1894 at Whiting, Iowa, and died Friday, September 18, 1959 at the Onawa hospital following a long illness and a severe heart attack.

Mrs. Polly had lived in the Whiting community all her life. She was a member of the Church of Christ at Whiting. She was married March 3, 1915 to Raymond Polly and two sons and a daughter were born to this union. One son, Willis, died March 31, 1950.

Survivors include the widower; a son, Robert of Whiting; a daughter, Mrs. Warren Struble (Leora) of Council Bluffs; three brothers, Dale Fletcher of Soldier, Park of Kansas City, Mo., and Doris of Onawa; six sisters, Mrs. Mabel Benner of Harrisonville, Mo., Mrs. Goldie Gulick and Mrs. Gladys Gulick of Sloan, Mrs. Bonnie Wilson of Huron. S.D., Mrs. Alta Crawford of Summersville, Mo., and Mrs. Lydia Katzenberger of Columbia, Mo.; four grandchildren and many other relatives.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, Sept. 21, in the Church of Christ at Whiting with Rev. Gerald Knopp officiating. Mrs. Dorothy Knopp sang, accompanied by Mrs. Louie Langren. Mrs. Ben Skidmore, Flavia McCandless and Carey Blackwell were in charge of the flowers. Casket bearers were Don Richardson, William Anderson, Jerry Rowe, Robert Rowe, Lester Shively and Ralph Matthews. Burial was in Harrison cemetery near Whiting, with the Wood funeral home in charge of arrangements. Taken from an Onawa, Iowa newspaper.
