The Dunlap (Iowa) Reporter
dated March 1932:

“The funeral service was held Tuesday morning, March 1, at St. Patrick’s church, Rev. C. J. Portel officating. Interment was made in the Pleasant Hill cemetery.

He was 70 years old at the time of his death. He died at the Dunlap Hotel where he was taken after a fall down the steps leading to the hotel.

Mr. Holihan was born in Rockville, Conn. May 10, 1861. He was united in marriage to Bridget Doherty in 1887 and to this union five children were born, Mrs. Mayme Madison, Mrs. Julia Weber, Mrs. Nellie Weber of Dunlap; Rosella of Omaha; and John, all of whom survive except John who died in infancy.

For 23 years Mr. Holihan and family resided on a *farm west of town, moving here in 1911.

In addition to his four children he leaves 19 grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and a sister, Mrs. Julia Leary of Springfield, Mass.”

* Their farm was located in Sections 12 and 13 of Township 82 (Willow Twp.), Range 42 in Monona County, Iowa.

James moved to Monona County in about 1881 per the 1906 Standard Atlas of Monona County, Iowa
