“ONAWA, Iowa -- Maynard V. Olson, 89, of Onawa died suddenly Wednesday, Jan. 18, 2006, at his residence.

Services will be 2 p.m. Monday at Faith Lutheran Church in Onawa. Burial will be in Soldier Lutheran Cemetery, Soldier, Iowa. There will be no visitation. Arrangements are under the direction of Rush Family Care Service in Onawa.”

Maynard V. Olson, son of Tingvald and Ella (Evenson) Olson was born March 21, 1916 near Soldier, Iowa. He attended Soldier public schools and graduated in 1933. He married Margaret I. Eide on November 14, 1940. Three children were born to this union: Sheldon (died in infancy), Larry Olson and Anita (Mrs. Leo Holthaus). Maynard worked on farms before moving to Onawa, Iowa. In 1950 he learned the trade of meat cutting and followed this trade until he retired.
