ADA G. CARTER
Ada G. Carter, 87, lifetime resident of Whiting, Iowa, died December 12, 1985, at Burgess Memorial Hospital, Onawa, Iowa.
She was born May 4, 1898, at Whiting, Iowa, to David and Jennie (Henderson) Carter. She graduated from Whiting High School in 1916, received her bachelor of arts degree from Morningside College in 1920, and her master of arts degree from the University of Nebraska at Lincoln in 1927. She was a schoolteacher in Iowa for 41 years--36 of those years she taught in the Whiting School System.
She was a member of Whiting Church of Christ and it's Dorcas Society, was a Sunday School teacher and clerk of the church for 50 years.
She was a past Regent of Daughters of American Revolution, Onawa Chapter; a 50 year member of Whiting Chapter No. 470 Order of Eastern Star and Queen Esther Chapter No. 222, OES of Onawa; and past worthy matron of the Whiting Chapter. She was a member of Past Matron's Club, Congenial Club and Lincoln Township Farm Bureau Women.
There are no immediate survivors. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Blanche and Jocy, and one brother, Roscoe.
Services were held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, December 16, 1985, at the Church of Christ at Whiting with Evangelist Rusty Hedger officiating. Dan Neldeberg was the Scripture Reader. Mrs. Carl Linden, the organist, played "Sun Rise".
Bearers were Albert "Bus" Gregerson, Ervin Mander, Carl Linden, John Matthews, Dick Derr and S. T. Skidmore.
Interment was in the Whiting Cemetery with arrangements by the Pearson Funeral Home, Onawa, Iowa.
