Funeral services were held at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Logan, Iowa, Saturday, Dec. 22, for William Rex Richardson, 63. He passed away Wednesday, Dec. 19.
Officating clergy at the service was the Rev. Edmund Schafer. Interment was in Fairview cemetery at Sloan, Ia.
He was born Nov. 13, 1927, in Onawa, the son of Hartsel and Lydia Fletcher Richardson. He grew up in Whiting and was raised by an aunt and uncle, Syd and Gladys Gulick. He was baptized in Sloan, Iowa. He was graduated from Hickman high school in Missouri. He worked as a baggage handler at the St. Louis, Mo., airport and then at the Sioux City, Ia. airport. He suffered a stroke at the age of 44 and then resided at various nursing homes, the most recent one being Rose Vista at Woodbine, Ia.
Oct. 15, 1982, he was married to Mary Ann Robinson at the Eventide nursing home in Denison, Ia. He was confirmed by the Rev. Leonhardt Gebhardt of St.John Lutheran Church of Charter Oak, Ia. on Oct. 16, 1983.
Rex is survived by his wife, Mary Ann; a sister, Mrs. Wanda Alsop of New Franklin, Mo; a cousin, Buss Gulick of Whiting; a neice, Mrs. Charlene Nave of Denison, Ia.; his mother-in-law, of Woodbine; and two of Mary Ann's step sisters and two step brothers.
