Mrs. Carrie Harmon Died Sunday

Had Been Ill But A Few Days. Death Caused By Pneumonia

Was the widow of Dr. Ruben Harmon who died in 1911 and was well known over the County- Leaves one Daughter, Mrs. Howard Johnson

This community was grieved on Sunday afternoon when the report of the death of Mrs. Carrie Harmon was made known. Mrs. Harmon had not been ill very long, she having a bad cold which developed into a severe case of pneumonia, which was the cause of her death.

Carrie A. Parker was born at Mentor, Ohio, November 9, 1854, and died in Onawa, February 26, 1917.

She was united in marriage with Dr. Reuben Harmon, Nov. 13, 1875. Dr, and Mrs. Harmon came to Iowa during the spring of 1882, settling at Sac City, where the remained until 1883, when they came to Onawa.

Dr. Harmon, became one of the best known and most popular physicians in Monona County, appraising a competency. He died Jan. 3, 1911, at Denver, Col. Where in company with his wife he had gone in search of health.

Dr. and Mrs. Harmon became the parents of three children, two of whom died in infancy. One daughter, Maude, now Mrs. Howard Johnson survive. She also leaves a brother, C.F. Parker, of Spokane, Wash., a niece, Miss Mildred R. Parker, who made her home with her, and two nieces and two nephews living in Chicago, all being the children of a deceased brother.
Mrs. Harmon was a charter member of the Church of Christ, in Onawa, in which and its auxiliary organization, she was an active worker. She was baptized at the age of twelve. She was also a member of the ladies G.A.R. Aid Society, the member of which attended the funeral services in a body.

Funeral services were conducted at the Christian church by her pastor, Rev. C.R. Moore, Wednesday afternoon at two o’clock, a large number of friends being present. The floral offerings were numerous and beautiful.

John M. Coo, a brother-in-law, and son Steve, of Sioux City and Mrs. F. A. Breechwald, of Ida Grove were here to attend the funeral. Interment was made in the Onawa Cemetery.
