Obituary of W. Mustard, Passed Away March 21
William Mustard, son of Aurilla and Cephas Mustard, was born October 21, 1865 at Thurman, Iowa and passed away following anillness of four weeks in the Cornia, California, Hospital on March 21, 1954.
He was the seventh child of a family of thirteen children. The family made their home near Thurman for a number of years. Later they came to Onawa, Iowa and settled on a farm north of town. Following the return of other members of the family to Fremont County, Iowa, Mr. Mustard farmed east of town for about fifteen years. After moving to Onawa, he was employed as a member of the Monona County bridge crew for some thirty years, and up until a year and a half ago, he was active in the business of house moving. He lived in the vicinity of Onawa for 65 years.
In 1896 his marriage with Miss Bertha Berkeley took place in Onawa. To them were born two daughters, Mildred and Elda and a son Ivan.
Preceding him in death were his parents, his wife, Mrs Bertha Mustard in August of 1946: three sisters and seven brothers.
Those who survive are: three children, Mrs R S (Mildred) Lawrenson of Sioux City, Ia, Mrs Elda DeVault of Norca, Calf: and Ivan L Mustard of Norco, Calif.: five grandchildren and six great grandchildren: one sister, Mrs Clara Wilson of Grinnell, Ia: and one brother, Thomas Mustard of Newton, Ia and many friends.
Funeral services were held in the Pearson Funeral Home on Friday, March 26, 1954 at 2 p.m. The Rev Warren A Bintz pastor of the Onawa Methodist Church was in charge. Roger Bachman accompanied by Mrs Oliver C Kelley sang "The 23rd Psalm" and "My Jesus, as Thou Wilt"
Interment was made in the Belvidere Cemetery near Turin, Ia.
Bearer were Donald, Ronald and Maurice Mustard, Harry Beedle, Donald and Wayne Lawrenceson.
