Raymond "Bud" Cole was born in Onawa, Iowa on June 29, 1910 and passed from this life on Saturday morning September 29th 1951, at the age of 41 years.
He was a life long resident of Onawa, having received his schooling here and having chosen carpentry as his vocation. He was known for his good workmanship.
On March 8, 1937 he was united in marriage with Lois Young at Elk Point, South Dakota.
When World War II came he answered the call of his country and served in the SeaBees for the duration. He was a member of the David McNeill Post of the American Legion and a very active member of Onawa Volunteer Fire Department.
Survivors in addition to his wife Lois are his six year old son Jack, six sisters, Mrs. George Strunk, Mrs. Ross Johnson, Mrs. Charles Porter, and Mrs. Edith Conyers all of Onawa, Mrs. Dorothy Cunningham, Salina, California and Mrs. Alvin Anderson of Sioux City, four brothers, George of Onawa, Ernest of Burlington, Colorado, John of Ogden, Utah and Jerry of Holstein, Iowa along with a number of older relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday October 2, 1951 at 2 P.M. at the First Christian Church with the Rev Everett Epperson officiating, Mrs. Dorothy Ferris gave comfort in song accompanied at the organ by Mrs. Margaret Gray.
The David McNeill Post of the American Legion attended the service and gave military rites at the church and cemetery. Members of the Post acted as bearers. The Onawa Volunteer Fire Department of which Bud was a member attended in a body. Interment was in the Onawa Cemetery. Arrangements by the Pearson Funeral Home.
