Sharp, Mildred A. (Butterworth) ~ 1982

Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in the United Methodist Church in Ute. The Rev. Dennis Bailey will officiate. Burial will be in the Dow City Cemetery under the direction of the Walter Funeral Home of Ute.

Mrs. Sharp, the former Mildred Butterworth, was born July 28, 1893, at Dow City. She attended the Kraeger School of Music at Washington University in St. Louis, Mo., and also the School of Music in Lincoln, Neb. She taught music in the area for several years.

She married Dr. Floyd Sharp June 7, 1919, at Dow City. They lived in the Ute community from 1919 until 1956 when they moved to Red Oak, returning to Ute in 1967. He died Jan. 1, 1976.

She was a member of the Mu Phi Epsilon Honorary Music Society, Order of Eastern Star at Ute, United Methodist Women, American Legion Auxiliary and Royal Neighbors.

Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Mariana Reed of Greeley, Colo.; two sons, Dr. Robert of Ute and Clair of Coralville; seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
