Miss Ida H. Norby, Age 96, formerly of Soldier, Iowa, died on April 2, 1983, at Horn Memorial Hospital in Ida Grove, Iowa. She had been a resident of the Good Samaritan Center at Holstein, Iowa, for the past 30 years.

She was born in Willow Township near Moorhead, Iowa, on March 6, 1887, the daughter of James and Maren Pedersen Norby. She was raised in the Soldier area and was baptized and confirmed in the Soldier Lutheran Church.

Survivors include one sister, Mrs. Dagny Lund, of Onawa, Iowa; five nieces and one nephew. She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Alvin, and three infant brothers and two sisters, Mae Rude and Ella Gerard.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 5, 1983, at the Soldier Lutheran Church, Soldier, Iowa, with Rev. William Carter officiating. The organist Mrs. Leonard Jensen played “The Lord’s Prayer”.

Casket bearers were Gerald Shaffer, Dwight Shaffer, Marvin Shaffer, Maynard Holverson, Clayton Holverson and John Larson.

Interment was in the Soldier Lutheran Cemetery, Soldier, Iowa, with arrangements by Pearson Funeral Home, Soldier, Iowa
