Clara Olina Norby, 78, Soldier, Iowa, died April 3, 1983, at Burgess Memorial Hospital in Onawa, Iowa.

She was born April 4, 1904, at Soldier, Iowa, to John Johnson and Emma Anderson Johnson. On March 15, 1933, she was united in marriage to Johnnie Norby at Elk Point, South Dakota. He died December 25, 1971. She was a lifelong resident of Soldier. She was a member of the Soldier Lutheran Church and the Ladies Aid of the Church; and a 50 year member of the American Legion Auxiliary of Soldier.

Survivors include one brother, Joseph Johnson, Des Moines, Iowa, and several cousins and a host of friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and one son.

Services were held at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 6, 1983, at the Soldier Lutheran Church with Rev. William Carter officiating. The organist, Mrs. Leonard Jensen, accompanied the Men’s Quartet who sang the selections “In The Garden” and “Beyond The Sunset”.

Bearers were Fred Briggs, Harry Andersen, Omar Nelson, Bryce Lee, Bernard Thoreson and Stanley Frydenlund.

Interment was in the Soldier Lutheran Cemetery with arrangements by the Pearson Funeral Home of Soldier, Iowa.
