1982Dale Ray Armstrong Family, p 96
Dale’s grandparents are Bert (deceased) and Viola Davenport Armstrong of Mondamin, Iowa, and Roy and Minnie Lovall Heistand (both deceased). His parents are Walter William Armstrong and Lavonne Marie Heistand Armstrong of Moorhead, IA.
Dale has two sisters, Crystal Armstrong Lee and Donna Armstrong Lee, and one brother, Dennis. Crystal and Vern have three girls and a baby on the way. Donna and Duane have three boys and Dennis and Evelyn (both deceased) have two girls and one boy.
I am Linda Ruth Spencer Armstrong and my grandparents are Charles (deceased) and Vera Baldwin Spencer of Glenwood, IA and Albert and Alva Smith Palmer (both deceased). My parents are Joseph Nelson (deceased) and Ellen Marie Palmer Spencer of Missouri Valley, IA.
I have two sisters, Charlotte Spencer Burns and Ellen Spencer Lee, and four brothers: Joseph (Bud) and Jim of California, Charles of Alaska, and Bill, Charlotte and Norman have two girls; Bill and Jan have two girls; Charlie and Susy have one girl and Ellen has one boy.
Dale and I were both eighteen when we were married. We were married on December 16, 1968, in South Dakota on my mother’s birthday.
We have two children, Heidi Ranay, age 7, and Charles Ray, age 4. They both enjoy riding their horses in parades.
We live on a small acreage about 2 ½ miles outside of Moorhead, IA. We raise and butcher our own pork, beef, and poultry. (I mean we do our own butchering; we don’t take it to a locker and have it done.) We raise a garden and I do canning and make my own jelly and butter.
Our house had to be moved so Dale did the foundation and plumbing work himself. This included the septic tank. He had to rebuild our chimney and he built a new one for our kitchen. He also put a new window in our kitchen.
We burn wood and we each have a chain saw so that we can saw together. Our stove burned out so Dale used the old frame and made a new fire box for it. You learn to make do with what you have and only buy new when nothing else works.
Dale enjoys hunting (mostly deer, raccoon, and pheasant) and fishing. We have two hounds and one black Lab.
We have one calf, one small sow, one goat, two horses, five ducks, thirty chickens, six dogs and six kittens.
We all enjoy roller skating, horseback riding, and our motorcycle. Submitted by Linda R. Armstrong
