1982Mildred C. Anderson, p 94
Mildred, better known as Dutch, a nickname her father gave her as a child, grew up in Whiting. The daughter of Roy and Eunice Fegenbush, she attended Whiting school until getting married to Anthon Carl Christensen of Albaton in 1929. He was the son of Carl and Petrea Christensen. To this union there were four children, Carl L. Christensen, Omaha, Nebr., Barbara Christensen Snodgrass, Sioux City, IA, Mary Lou Christensen Halcomb, Mitchell, So. Dak., and William L. ‘Butch’ Christensen deceased 12-22-71. Anthon Christensen, her husband, passed away 8-10-1948 just five years after purchasing the Kenneth Olson farm in Lake Circle. Mildred stayed on the farm and reared her family by cooking in restaurants in Sioux City, then in later years for the OK Café in Whiting, operated by Darleen Deen Lee.
In 1959 Mildred married Raymond C. Anderson of Marcus, IA. Mr. Anderson was born and raised in Marcus, the son of Albert and Olga Anderson. This couple was one of the first settlers in Marcus. Mr. Anderson has three sons, which Mildred helped to raise. They are Ronald C. of Minn., Dr. Gerald R. of Vermont and Dr. Albert A. of Massachusetts.
She is the proud grandmother of twelve grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren and three step grandchildren.
She still resides on the farm she and Anthon bought. Her hobbies are cooking and crocheting. She has crocheted many beautiful dolls, sold all over the United States. She enjoys all of her lifetime friends and hopes to spend the rest of her days in the Whiting area where she grew up. Barbara Christensen Snodgrass.
