1982William Charles Aderman, p 84
George, Louise, and I were born on the Croker farm east of Whiting in the 1920s. Our mother is Marguerite Worrell Croker (now Mayer), and our father was William Whiting Croker. Mother had already written our families’ histories up to their marriage and beyond. I am proud of my heritage—also pleased that I am names for my maternal grandmother, Rose Worrell, and called by my paternal grandmother’s name, Kittie Croker.
I went to Whiting schools up through most of high school, but graduated from Ames. World War II changes most everyone’s lives. There are 2 years at Iowa State College, then to Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, then to Portland, Oregon, where I met Bill was from Lockport, New York, and stationed on the U.S.S. Warren, APA 53.
We were married in 1946 in Portland, Crisscrossing the country almost every two years, Bill went to Sampson College in New York State, but we both graduated from the University of Oregon.
Then back to Hamburg, New York for 10 years where our three children were born; Julie Louise 1951, Dana Charles 1952, and Kyle Arthur in 1958, then a series of transfers for Uniroyal to Baltimore, Memphis, New Orleans, and Denver.
Julie is a commercial artist here in Denver, and married to John Grazulis, From Westmont, Illinois. She worked for the Denver Museum of Natural History for several years, and is now free-lance. John is a sales representative for a communication firm.
Dana is married to Margaret Deusselier from Kansas City, Missouri. They live in Rochester, Washington, where Dana is a forester. Each summer while attending college, Dana worked in different national forests in Colorado, Wyoming, and Alaska, accumulating many great experiences along the way.Kyle is attending Western State College in Gunnison, Colorado. He counts as some of his memorable experiences spending parts of 3 summers with our cousins – the Don Croker family in Whiting, working in the corn and soy bean fields, and learning about Whiting and the same warm atmosphere that was mine in which to grow.
Bill has been with Uniroyal 24 years; managing their warehouse operations in the cities we have lived. I am working as a account specialist for a public warehouse.
Our family hobbies are golf, skiing in the beautiful Colorado Mountains, bowling, Bronco football games, and our own sled-dog team of 2 black and white, blue–eyed Siberian Huskies, Toshka and Kiska. Submitted by Rose Kathryn “Kitty” Croker Aderman
