DISTINGUISHED SERVICE CROSS
Edwin D. Bramble, private, first-class, Headquarters Company 102d Infantry. For extraordinary heroism in action at Marcheville, France, September 26, 1918. He performed valuable service in maintaining communication by voluntarily repairing telephone lines under violent artillery bombardment. While so engaged he was seriously wounded.

Residence at enlistment: Mapleton, Iowa
