Parents of H.I. and E.A. (Blough) Hime
Henry Ira Hime was one of 12 children of Paul and Susan Hime. Of this writting I knew very little of the Hime family, however the following was found in census records and Paul Hime’s will: Paul was born ca 1793 and married Susan born ca 1796 in Pennsylvania. Their children: Catherine was born ca 1820, Pa. m. Owgald: Mary born ca 1822, PA. m. Gaul: Phebe born ca 1823, PA. m. Scambagh: Amelia born ca 1825, PA: twins- Lydia born ca 1828, PA on Dec. 29, 1841 in Ashland County, Ohio m. William Sigler, had 11 children: Reuben b ca 1828, PA on July 28, 1849 in Ashland County, Ohio m. Freelove Bault:: Levi born ca 1829 PA. on September 16, 1857 in Ashland County, Ohio m.Eliza Jesson: William b. ca 1831 PA: Henry Ira born June 20, 1834, Ohio—died Feb. 26, 1915, Jericho Springs, MO and on December 2, 1855 in LaGrange Co., Indiana m. Emily Ann Blough (B. Jan. 23, 1839, Somerset Co. PA.—d.May 23, 1900, Blencoe, IA. and had 10 children. (See Family of Henry Ira and Emily Ann Blough Hime): Susannah b ca 1836, Ohio m. Lewis. According to 1882 History LaGrange Co., IND under Mrs. William (Lydia Himes) Sigler “parents Paul and Susan Hime(s), native of Pennsylvania, came to Indiana in 1857 and located on a farm in Johnson Township, where Mr. Hime(s) died. Mrs. Hime(s) died in this township.” Paul’s will record indicates he died sometime prior to October 9, 1873.
Tracing back on Emily Ann Blough (Hime) ancestors goes back to her great great grandfatheron her paternal side to Christian Blough I (spelled Blauch for 3 generations). Christian I b. 1715 in Switzerland, d. 1786 in Lancaster Co. PA., married Elizabeth Gastelli and had 11 children, one of which a son, Christian II b. July 7, 1743, Switzerland. At the age of 7 in 1750, he came to the colonies w/parents on the ship Brotherhood from Bern, Switzerland to Philadelphia. Christian II married Magdalena Bender ca 1764 and had 8 childred. Christian II died 1777 near Berlin, PA. One of their sons was Peter Blough b. February 8, 1771, Somerset County, PA who married Magdelena Yoder (b. 1769). They had 5 sons, one named David Milton Blough I b. August 17, 1854, LaGrange County, Indiana. David Milton I served in the Revolutionary War, and married Rebecca Rose (b. July 15, 1815, Somerset County, PA.—died December 27, 1899, LA Grange County, Indiana). David and Rebecca Rose Blough were the parents of Emily Ann Blough (Mrs. Henry Ira Hime). Emily’s maternal (Rebecca Rose) great great grandparents: William Rose I originally from Ireland then Liverpool, England m. Mary and had 5 children. They came to the Colonies ca 1698. Their oldest son Allen b ca 1740 married Mary Kinton and were the parents of 10 children, one son was William II (born December 17, 1765 – died before September 17, 1845) who married Jane/Jean Elder (born June 16, 1777 - died Oct. 1862), were parents of 9 children, William II and Jane/Jean were the parents of Rebecca Rose (Mrs. David Milton Blough) had 10 children and their oldest daughter was Emily Ann Blough.
