GRAVES

I have been researching Samuel Mackay's expedition for the last several years. I am very interested in the letter from Jacob's grandfather, Joseph Graves, that you cited in the text of your post. Sergeant Joseph Graves, aged 35 at the time of his capture at Sabbath Day Point on March 20th, was serving under Captain Alexander Baldwin of the Albany County Rangers
at this time. The information provided in the citation is very exciting, as it supports a theory I have long had regarding the composition of the Adams party that was captured the preceding day but was unable to prove until now.

You mention a second sheet which provides a description of Sergeant Graves patrol. Are the documents still in the family's possession ? If so,I would like to know if the family would be willing to provide copies of the original documents to facilitate my research ? Any assistance you might be able to provide would be greatly appreciated.

Graves, Jacob M. 1822-1897
