Mrs Zella Palmer Benson died at her home in Orchard, Iowa on Friday Febuary 24, 1899, age 37 years 6 months and 9 days. A year and a half ago she married A. U. Benson, a prosperous Iowa farmer. She had a very large aquaintance in Eaton county, having for four years been with her brother, Mr. Volney Palmer, in the music business.
Her aged parents especially, feel the terrible blow that brings the tears of sorrow to all who knew the departed. She left a little daughter only four days old to cheer the home made desolate by the mother's death.
Mrs. B. was born in Wisconsin but has lived here ever since a small child. The deceased was ever active in good works and was possessed of a remarkably kind and joyous disposition. A short service was held at the Iowa home and a large escort to the train evidenced the high regard which she had won in her short residence in Iowa.
The body was brought to Charlotte by the husband and the funeral was held from the residence of the parents in Carmel on Monday, Rev Chase officiating. Beautiful floral tributes were brought by members of the D. of R. of which she was a member, the I.O.O. F. and K. O. T. M.
