When nineteen years of age Mr. Hanson with his brother Sever, came to this country. After a year spent at Adams, Minn., he came to Stacyville, where he lived the remainder of his life.

On January 23, 1881 he was united in marriage to Miss Bessie Johnson. Their home was blessed with nine children, two of whom died in childhood. His seven children, Harry, of Detroit, Mich.; Charles, Bert, Bess, Bertha, Mary and Willard of Stacyville, were, with the exception of Harry, with him during his illness and death. Harry visited him several times after the operation.

Mr. Hanson was baptized in infancy in the Lutheran church and was brought up in that faith. For many years he has been a worshiper at and a liberal supporter of the Methodist Episcopal church at Stacyville, Iowa.

He has always been a public spirited citizen and took a great interest in the public affairs of Stacyville and of the county. For over twenty years he has been the faithful treasurer of the Stacyville Public school. In 1915 teh people of this district honored him by electing him to the office of County Supervisor. For about six months he performed the duties of his office with credit.

For some time his health had been failing him and on September 1, 1916, he underwent a serious operation at Rochester, Minn. He never recovered completely and after nearly six months of serious illness he quietly passed away.

Besides his wife and seven children, left to mourn his loss are one brother Sever of Hartland, Minn., one grandson Harry Neil Hanson of Detroit, Mich.; five step brothers and two step sisters.

The funeral services conducted by Rev. Schepple and Rev. Dickman were held at the home. -- Stacyville Monitor
