DIED - At West Mitchell, Sept 8th, 1872, Mrs. Mary Collins, aged 65 years.

Mrs. Mary Collins was born in Herefordshire, England, Aug. 14th, 1807 and died in West Mitchell, Iowa, Sept 18th, 1872. She was 65 years and 24 days old at the time of her death.

She became a christian and united with the M.E. Church when but 18 years of age. She was married to Mr. Moses Evans in England, in 1829, and emigrated to America in 1829. They found a pleasant home in the State of Ohio, at New Philadelphia, where, for 15 years they were prosperous and happy.

But a cloud of sorrow unperceived was gathering around her pathway. At the expiration of those fifteen years her youngest brother died. He willed his property to her, a part of which was situated near Watertown and a part at Beloit, Wisconsin. In consideration of the value of this property and with the hope of bettering their condition they started from Ohio to Beloit. But on the way the husband and father was by accident drowned.

Now the cloud of sorrow comes down and rests with all its appalling weight upon the lonely mother and child. He was buried where he died, and she with her daughter settled at Beloit until 184- and was then married to Mr. A. Collins, her present husband.

Soon after her marriage to Mr. Collins they moved from Beloit to her farm near Watertown. Then after about 20 years of [illegible] and sorrow in Wisconsin they moved with their children to the State of Iowa, where with [illegible] around her she pronounced her [illegible] and her last breath.

During the last four or five months of her life she frequently said to [illegible] I feel so thankful for the means of grace [illegible] permitted to enjoy with the good people of Mitchell. She, like every christian mother was very deeply interested for the unconverted members of her family, and with cries and tears besought the Father in Heaven, through Christ; to save them. A few days before she died she said she had no fear of death.
