KASEL, BODENSTEINER, HOFSTAD, BRUMM, KRAUSE, KITT

Theodore "Ted" Henry Kasel, age 80 of Ames, passed away on Wednesday, April 24, 2024 at Mary Greeley Medical Center after a prolonged sickness.

Ted was born on March 14, 1944, in Osage, Iowa to Paul and Anna (Bodensteiner) Kasel. He was raised in the farming community of Meyer, Iowa.

After graduating from Visitation Catholic High School in 1962, Ted attended Iowa State University. His studies were interrupted by the Vietnam Draft where he chose to enlist in the United States Navy. After Ted served, he resumed his education at Iowa State University in Mechanical Engineering.

After graduation from Iowa State University, Ted worked at Bournes in Ames, Iowa and Riverside, California. He later worked for Quinn Manufacturing in Boone, Iowa and many other jobs in the engineering field.

Ted later married Rebecca Hofstad in January of 2000 in San Luis Obispo, California.

Ted is survived by his wife, Rebecca of Colorado Springs, Colorado; his sisters Mary Brumm of Storm Lake, Iowa, Joan Krause of Pine Island, Minnesota, and Carol Kasel of Austin, Minnesota; his brothers Eugene Kasel of Roscoe, Illinois and Daniel (Barbara) Kasel of Adams, Minnesota; sister-in-law Vera Kasel of Osage, Iowa; brother-in-law Dennis (Betty) Kitt of Denison, Iowa; and his many nieces and nephews.

Ted was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Anna; his sister Barbara Kitt; his brothers John Kasel, William (Harriet) Kasel, and Paul (Darlene) Kasel; his sister-in-law Marlis Kasel; and his brothers-in-law Richard Krause and John Brumm.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, April 30, 2024 at Saint Cecilia Catholic Church, 2900 Hoover Ave., Ames. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the Mass at the church. Burial with Military Honors will be held at 12:30 P.M. on Wednesday, May 1, 2024 at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery near Adel.
